We provide support to the veterinary community

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a Veterinary nurse, and spent 2020 working in emergency and critical care out of hours. The veterinary profession can be  hard on our mental health and a quick Google search will show some alarming statistics regarding the rates of suicide in the profession.

2020 was a very difficult time, bringing many challenges. Distancing measures, lockdowns and fear have effected our pets and their families and also triggered many changes in the way we provide veterinary care. I know that many of my colleagues have felt extra pressures during this difficult time, as we try our best to look after our patients and the needs of their families.

For me Roller skating is an activity that elivates stress, helps me to clear my mind as well providing a fun form of exercise.

Roller skating was hugely beneficial to me during 2020, as a form of exercise and community, and I know that it has a positive effect on the mental health of others. This May I will be virtually skating the Inca Trail (26.2 miles) to raise money for VetLife and spread the joy of Rollerskating.

I am super stoked that several of my veterinary colleagues have agreed to join me! We look forward to sharing our adventure 💜
